JBS USA

A Founding Member of ICASA

In 2018, JBS USA became a founding member of the International Consortium for Antimicrobial Stewardship in Agriculture (ICASA) is a public-private partnership advancing research on animal health and welfare as well as antimicrobial stewardship in agriculture. This consortium was created by the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) to increase investment in research promoting the judicious use of antibiotics, and improving animal health and wellness.

Protecting animal health and welfare is a top priority for producers. Animal health is complex and linked to a number of factors, which can be difficult to control. Disease negatively impacts animal welfare and can create additional costs for producers and consumers. Antibiotics are important tools for treating and preventing animal disease. However, many livestock producers are looking for long-term solutions that promote judicious use of antibiotics and improve animal welfare. ICASA was created to research the drivers of animal disease and provide solutions that yield healthier animals.
